You shared the Good News at Melrose

This year’s Melrose Easter Camp was one of our biggest yet, as more young campers heard the good news of Jesus, including six young people who made a decision to follow Him for the first time!

“The atmosphere was electric, full of life and joy,” says Camp Leaders Ben and Sarah.

“With many campers this year not coming from a church background, the team included a lot of foundational teaching in the sessions. Four of our leaders, Josh Lines, Janae Nieass, Rachelle McCallister, and Matthew Waldhuter delivered some life-changing messages about God’s life, truth and our identity in Christ,” says Ben.

Ice-breaker games helped campers come out of their shell and make friends, which led to this year’s camp being one of the best yet.

“Between the mud fight, capture the leader, and our workshops, there was plenty to do at camp. This carried over into the rest of camp and we saw many fantastic moments of campers supporting and praying for each other,” says Sarah.

“It’s so good when God uses simple things like a mud fight to bring people together!”

Workshops included art, escape rooms, archery, bible study, song writing, and more. While the games provided lots of fun, the team were most encouraged to see God move in the lives of the campers.

“The worship team did a fantastic job creating a safe space where campers could experience God’s presence. This tied in with the messages, the study groups and devotions. We saw revival all around camp this year. It was so fantastic to see the campers go home with a stronger faith after camp,” says Sarah.

In addition to six teens making a decision to follow Jesus for the first time, many campers were able to grow further in their Christian faith.

“Camp helped me to reconnect to God and lose any hesitation towards him,” says one camper.

“I want to go to church more now,” shares another.

While another shares, “God has put on my heart to read the Bible more and surround myself with Christian friends.”

For Ben and Sarah, they’re incredibly grateful to all camp leaders who went “above and beyond” during camp.

“The SU team [also] supported us through the whole process. The camp cooks were amazing in serving up the most delicious food, and we want to thank the campers also who helped make camp what it is.

“Thank you also to everyone who prayed for camp, donated and volunteered personal items as well. And of course we want to thank God who allowed us to partner with him in bringing the kingdom through Melrose Easter Camp,” shares Ben and Sarah.
