You helped Aiden discover God’s love at Cave Camp
For almost 40 years Cave camp has been challenging young people to push themselves spiritually and physically, including Aiden whose testimony brought his fellow campers to tears.
On the final night of camp as everyone was gathered around the bonfire, Aiden shared how he’d been struggling with ‘some things’ when he attended camp two years ago. He recalled that his camp leader had encouraged him to give it over to God.
“I found out that God does care, and answers prayers.”
Aiden’s leader, Tim, shares that it’s moments like these that encourage him to keep investing in the lives of the young people in his community.
“Peer-pressure is such a massive thing that all high school students face. Out at Cave Camp, there’s no reception and no internet, so there’s lots of time for conversations,” says Tim.
“The campers share their stories, and they open up about the pressures they’re facing in school.”
“I think it’s really important for young people to attend camps like these. They’re worth investing in. You never know what life-changing connections they could make, or what friends might show up who are an answer to prayer.”
Having been a chaplain for many years, Tim recognises the important role mentors play in the lives of young people.
“When you realise that these camps are not about you, they’re completely about the kids, it’s a game changer,” says Tim.
Cave Camp encourages campers to own their own faith, overcome fear, and embrace new challenges through caving and other outdoor activities.
With 35 campers joining this year’s camp, it’s still going strong and impacting young people like Aiden after all these years.
Thank you for giving young people like Aiden opportunities to discover a God who loves and cares deeply for them.
