You are empowering young Christians

You are empowering young Christians

In 2020, our SU Australia team in Western Australia launched Junior LEAD for young people aged 15-18 as part of a vision to equip young Christians to reach the next generation with the good news of Jesus.

This winter we saw that vision realised at Junior LEAD 2022, which was held at Southern Hills Christian College in Bedfordale.

SU Australia Discipleship Catalyst, Sally Howe explains, “It was amazing to see these young Christian leaders committed to growing in love for and knowledge of Jesus while developing relationships with one another.”

Campers attended workshops, learned about leading in the way of Jesus, and worked in small groups to explore how to put Jesus’ teachings into practice. There was also time for worship and prayer, among team-building activities, geo-caching and more.

Attending her second Junior LEAD, Cherith says she’s excited to put the skills she learned into practice when she leads a CHIC camp in a few weeks.

I learned to act more Christ-like in ministry and how to build my own skills while empowering and encouraging others to build their own,” Cherith says.

Fellow Junior LEAD camper, Angelina, also left camp with a sense of excitement for what comes next.

“It helped me learn to empower younger Christians and to help them grow in their faith,” she says.

Significantly, these young Christian leaders saw SU is committed to helping them continue growing into the people God calls them to be. Harry, who has already led an SU camp said, “it’s great to feel supported and loved by so many people, and this support is ongoing even after camp”.

Thank you for your support, which makes these opportunities possible for young Christians like Cherith, Angelina and Harry.

Please join us in praying for them as they now prepare to lead on our upcoming summer missions and camps!
