Nadia encounters Jesus at SUPA Club

Nadia encounters Jesus at SUPA Club

After COVID lockdowns at the end of last year, tightened restrictions meant our wonderful volunteers were unable to run SUPA Clubs.

But for Turner SUPA Club, this wasn’t the end.

Thanks to a partnership with next-door North Canberra Baptist Church, the club has been running for the past six months as an after-school program at the church.

Bob Edwards leads the club, and shared that one of the regular attendees, Louisa*, invited her friend Nadia* a few months ago.

Nadia comes from a Hindu family and this was her first time attending any Christian activity. She loved SUPA Club, so much so that she came back the next week, and the next, and the next!

This term, Louisa and her family moved away from Canberra, but even without her friend, Nadia has kept coming.

Recently, the SUPA club has been looking through the gospel of Mark, and Nadia shared that every night, she’s been reading ahead.

Nadia came in and was so excited about what she’d been reading,” says Bob.

“She told me, ‘did you know Jesus brought a girl back to life!’”

It’s moments like these that make us so incredibly excited about what God is doing through SU ministries.

When children like Nadia delight in the bible and encounter Jesus for the first time, we are reminded of how amazing God is.

As Bob shared: “This is what makes it all worth it.”

Thank you for investing in ministries like SUPA Clubs! You are helping us get the life-changing word of God into the hands of children and young people just like Nadia.
