Karla’s answered prayer at Cervantes Beach Mission
As Christians, we believe in the power of prayer, but sometimes answered prayers still have the power to knock us off our feet.
For SU supporter and volunteer, Karla, this was certainly the case when she caught up with her family friend, Emily* after last year’s Cervantes Beach Mission.
“I’d been praying for Emily and her family for some time because I knew there wasn’t any particular Christian input in her life,” says Karla.
So it came as a big surprise when Karla caught up with Emily, who explained she was getting closer to God, reading her Bible daily, and praying.
Karla quickly followed up with many questions. Emily happily shared that she’d been holidaying with her family at Cervantes Beach where the SU team were running a teen program, and she decided to join.
“Emily not only had a great time, but said she now knows that Jesus loves her and has set her free,” recalls Karla.
SU Australia Community Missions Coordinator, Paul, had the pleasure of relaying Emily’s story to the Cervantes Mission team who were busily preparing for this year’s program.
“They were unaware of the impact they’d had on Emily, but were greatly encouraged,” says Paul.
Cervantes Beach Mission ran again this year from January 7-14, with many young people and families enjoying the fun activities, hearing about Jesus, and some even received their very first Bible.
Please join us in praying for this year’s participants, and for the seeds of hope planted in their lives. Thank you for all you do to make these stories possible.
