Jesus Only and Always at Wild Wee Jasper

Jesus Only and Always at Wild Wee Jasper

More than 60 campers from Grades 7-12 joined this year’s Wild Wee Jasper (WWJ) for a jam-packed week of adventure and learning to trust in Jesus.

In addition to the usual adrenaline-fuelled activities of mountain-biking, caving, abseiling, archery and hiking, a highlight for many this year was ‘Campfire Time’, says SU Australia Schools and Camps Coordinator, Amy.

“This is a time where the leaders share their testimonies with the campers. For the Year 12s, they also had the opportunity to share their testimonies and pray for each other as they prepare to graduate later this year,” says Amy.

SU volunteer leader and Bible Speaker, Isaac, shared from Galatians on this year’s theme of ‘Jesus. Only. Always’. Based on camper feedback, it was certainly a message that sunk in.

“He has a plan for me and it is better than anything I could try and make happen myself. Trusting in Him is key! I am not alone and God’s put some really great people in my life,” says WWJ camper Jasmine*.

Another camper, Gemma* was inspired as she engaged with the Bible during the week.

“There were a few parts of scripture that I had read before [but on camp these same verses] appealed to me in a new and different way,” she says.

More than half of all campers said they were keen to come back and lead on SU camps in the future so they can sow back into this ministry that has had such a big impact on their own lives and faith journeys.

This sentiment was echoed by one parent who shared her reason for sending her teen to camp.

“WWJ has been a really important part of my own faith development when I was a camper,” she says.

For another parent, it was an opportunity to invest in something that would have an eternal impact in the lives of their children.

“I wanted my kids to experience a Christian camp with the long lasting impact that can bring spiritually and socially,” she says.

Thank you for making ministries like Wild Wee Jasper possible so more children and young people can experience God’s love, while living in community with Christian leaders and volunteers who can encourage them to trust in Jesus, only and always.
