God softens the hardest hearts at Camp v Wild

God softens the hardest hearts at Camp v Wild

Zach* and Shane’s* week at this year’s Camp vs Wild didn’t get off to the greatest start.

But then God stepped in, says SU Australia Discipleship Catalyst Sally Howe.

We initially had some attitude and behaviour issues that needed addressing. However, it was awesome to see their hearts soften and respond to God’s Word during the week. Both boys recommitted their lives to following him!” recalls Sally.

In fact, so great was the change of heart, that both Zach and Shane were in tears during the final session, and during reflection time.

“Talking with their Youth Pastor after camp, he said the boys had been ‘hard work’ but it was so encouraging for him to hear that the groundwork that had been laid at youth had paid off at camp. We know it’s God working in the hearts of our young people, but the fact that he uses us as his co-workers is such a thrill,” says Sally.

Camp vs Wild Director, Em says it was encouraging to see how the leaders responded to the boys throughout camp.

“One of the leaders was really struggling to connect with the boys, whose behaviour was coming from a place of heartbreak over where they were at with God.

“I prayed with him and by the end of the week, he was having really meaningful conversations with them.

The leaders were so excited and couldn’t contain their joy at seeing the change in the boys and how they responded to God,” says Em.
