Serena’s beliefs shaken in Augusta

Your support continues to give children, young people and their families opportunities to experience the transforming love of Jesus through ministries like the Augusta Turner Family Festival. 

For Serena*, a young mum of two primary-aged children, her opportunity came at this year’s Festival, thanks to one team member’s answered prayer. 

“After we’d completed the kids drama and Bible story on Tuesday morning, I went for a walk along the riverside and prayed for God to lead me to someone who was searching for him,” Turner Family Festival team member, Allan, recalls. 

“I saw Serena sitting there, and our conversation soon turned to the Family Festival.”

Serena had actually been bringing her children to the Festival for the past three years, but this year was going to be different…

“I asked if she knew why the Family Festival was running activities at the park. I explained it was to give people an opportunity to know more about Jesus and the difference he can make in a person’s life. 

“She was curious to know what it meant to know Jesus and how he could give a person meaning in life. I shared my own story about how my life previously had no meaning, so I began searching for the truth. That search led me to Jesus,” he says. 

Allan also shared how he came to understand through the Scriptures the love that Jesus has for us, in spite of our faults and failings.

“Serena was shaken at the foundation of her beliefs.

I invited her to join our Ladies’ High Tea event, where my wife was also able to share her testimony,” he says.

Clearly moved by all she had seen and heard at the Festival, Serena asked Jesus into her life that very day. 

“After praying with another lady, she was filled with so much joy. This was a miracle that only God could do in the context of the whole team, who showed Serena his love,” says Allan.
