Faith strengthened at Bre23′
In April, a group of teen leaders from the Central Coast attended the Bre23’ mission trip, which supports the annual Rivers Convention. It was a great adventure for the team and they returned, changed and strengthened in their faith.
Local SRE teacher, Lisa Smith, led the team who were invited to sing, share their testimonies and run kids’ games for children attending the convention in Goodooga, Lightning Ridge and Walgett.
Each day the leaders participated in CHAT (Cultural Hearing Asking Telling) sessions to explore their own beliefs and sense of identity, and to develop skills in interacting well cross-culturally.
“Bre23’ has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I loved it so much, and so has everyone else,” says one leader.
“My favourite part has been helping the community connect with God and get to know about the church a bit more,” says another.
For one of the team members, it was their first time camping in a tent. For others, it was a chance to discover the faith they had in common with other Christians from regional and remote communities. But for all of them, it was challenging and rewarding to step out of their comfort zones and serve the young people around them.
Thanks to events like Bre23 and your support for the work of SU Australia and Generate, young Christians are having opportunities to experience serving God while on mission, and grow deeper in their faith and relationships with others.
“Through Bre23’, I’ve learnt how much I value community, family and friendships. It’s been an incredible journey,” one leader shares.
