Discovering ‘who I am’ at Stanley Beach Mission

Discovering ‘who I am’ at Stanley Beach Mission

More than 200 children and young people joined Stanley Beach Mission this summer where they had opportunities to discover who they are in God’s eyes, says team leader Kristyn.

“The theme was ‘who am I?’, and specifically what God has to say about that in his Word. As a team, we shared stories from our own lives throughout the week, while touching on topics such as anger and forgiveness,” she says.

There were plenty of activities for participants to enjoy, including a ‘super-duper’ rollercoaster, a sandcastle competition, craft workshops, structured water fights, and laser tag.

“While playing laser tag there’s a ‘two-minute-devotion’ where a team member or visiting speaker is chosen to answer questions from the crowd.

“This year we met a lovely family who’d been missionaries in China. The dad shared some of their experiences and how through trusting in God they saw many great things happen, which was an inspiration to many of us listening in,” Kristyn says.

Beyond the fun and games and special devotion times, SU beach missions are ultimately about giving people opportunities to connect, both as a community, and also with Jesus.

A highlight for Kristyn was praying for a family who were going through a tough time, and seeing how the team responded.

“I was so encouraged to see the spiritual growth and confidence in the team and how a very young junior team member even led our team devotion one morning.”

Thank you for giving young Christians opportunities to be equipped and released to run ministries like Stanley Beach Mission, so more children, young people and their families can experience the transforming love of Jesus.
