Chaplaincy is back at Brindabella
The average Australian child spends 1,300 hours a year at school. It’s a lot of time, where a lot can happen.
It’s why your support for school-based ministries like chaplaincy means so much!
Earlier this year, we had a massive answer to prayer, welcoming Kearsten Newnham into the SU family to serve as a chaplain at Brindabella Christian College — our first chaplain at an ACT school in three years!
Kearsten’s background in mental health, combined with her love for Jesus and young people, makes her perfectly suited to the role.
From running assemblies and leading choir, to supporting students with anxiety, and being a friendly face young people can trust and confide in, Kearsten is already making a difference. Your support makes this possible!
One particularly exciting space is the weekly bible study she leads:
“We have one student, Jake*, who is very proud to be an atheist but he is dedicated to come along to bible study and he seems to be really searching. The Christian students in the group love talking about God, and those who are seeking are being welcomed.”
As part of her ongoing professional development with SU, Kearsten recently completed a “Seasons for Growth” grief support training course, which will further enhance ability to support her school.
“The timing of this training is perfect. I’ll be using this to support our middle school students in need of extra help at the moment. It will be great to journey with them and be a presence of support.”
Thank you for equipping chaplains like Kearsten to come alongside students and share Jesus’ love. Your prayers and generosity make this ministry possible!
