Un-merry weather fails to dampen the Gospel message
Despite the rain, cold, and wind at this year’s Merry Beach Mission, many families were still blessed by the gospel message, says co-leader Isaac Walters.
Isaac recalls that the weather was terrible during the first part of the week. There were times when they wondered if anyone would come, but people continued to show up and get involved. He shared that despite the unfavourable weather conditions, many families still received blessings from the gospel message.
The event featured various activities such as arts and crafts, Bible story reenactments, singing, beach games, and the annual talent show, which had a massive turnout and helped raise funds for the Rural Fire Service.
Isaac was particularly encouraged by the team as they shared the gospel message with holidaymakers in and around the beach community. The theme for this mission was rock stars, and Isaac shared that this culture is about glorifying ourselves or idolizing things, but Jesus offers something different. He invites everyone, regardless of their status or appearance, and he is the servant king.
For the Merry Beach Mission director, Rob Clements, the week delivered many testimonies of God’s provision. He expressed gratitude to prayer supporters, stating that their prayers were felt and that it was thrilling to witness the Holy Spirit’s work in young and not so young people coming to Jesus.
Isaac cannot wait to come back next year and direct the 2024 Merry Beach Mission. He shared that spending a whole week with a group of Christians working together to share the Gospel is a unique experience that reminds him of what life is all about. He was inspired to live his life fully for Jesus and put him before anything else, which he thinks is an awesome thing to come away with.
Finally, Isaac expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the mission through prayers and financial assistance, stating that without them, ministries like Merry Beach Mission would not be possible.
