SU and Churches Connect for George Town Lego Club
SU Australia partnered with the Good News Club and the All Saint Network of Anglican Churches to run a Lego Holiday Club in George Town, Tasmania, to wrap up the summer school holidays on a high note.
While up to 20 children from both church and community families attended each day, it wasn’t just the kids getting into the Lego building, says SU Australia Field Development Manager, Matt.
“Everyone got involved in building with their Lego blocks, both young and old. This provided a great opportunity to have some meaningful conversations with families, in between Bible songs about building.
“‘Dig! Dig! Hammer! Saw!’ was a particularly fun song for everyone, seeing everyone trying to keep up with the motions, and some of us grown-ups falling way behind,” Matt laughs.
The allure of Lego building certainly overcame age barriers, as participants of all generations enjoyed delving into the colourful bricks, unleashing their creativity and imagination.
The fun activities were also linked to the theme of placing our faith in Jesus in practical ways.
Stephanie from the Good News Club and Mark from All Saints led ‘Bible time,’ which sparked great conversations from the children and their families about who God is and the importance of trusting in Jesus.
It’s always a blessing to work alongside local churches to create fun and supportive spaces to share God’s love, hope and good news in local communities across our nation.
Through your prayers and support, children, young people and their families are discovering life in God’s big story. To keep this impactful work going, please visit su.org.au/donate
