Milestone moment
In 2005, Maryborough Madness Camp was launched on the Fraser Coast, QLD. Andrew Storrs looks back on two decades of adventure, friendship, and spiritual growth that have touched the lives of hundreds of local children.
Each year, up to forty eager Year 5 and 6 students from across the Fraser Coast region come together for an unforgettable experience.
The camp combines heart-pumping adventure activities like abseiling, kayaking, archery, and laser tag with meaningful opportunities to explore and understand the Gospel message.
The theme every year is ‘Identity and Purpose,’ which, this year – in homage to the very first camp – was based on the movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
In today’s world, young people don’t always get a real idea of their worth or purpose. We share that in God they are fearfully and wonderfully made to be exactly who they are.
The impact of Maryborough Madness extends far beyond the campgrounds. What started as a humble kids’ camp has blossomed into a transformative movement.
Over the years, hundreds of young participants have discovered their faith through Maryborough Madness, with many going on to become youth leaders themselves.
Some have even answered the call to ministry, now serving as pastors in their communities.
This past year alone, it is reported that 22 young people were saved while at camp.
As we mark this significant milestone, we celebrate not just the activities and adventures but the countless lives touched and transformed.
