Kicking off Kids Games!

Kicking off Kids Games!

Kylie Garrett shares below how your support of events like Kids Games means more children and young people having fun, learning skills, and hearing about Team Jesus.

Kids Games in Darwin kicked off with a solid right boot. The dry season weather was glorious as 44 children came together across the week to have fun and learn about what it’s like to join Jesus’ team – the ultimate coach!

Our very own Coach Peel brought more passion, more energy, more footwork, helping kids to engage with what it takes to be a team player. We played a different sport each day, culminating with the Kids Games Olympics on Friday.

The incredible team of leaders included many young team members who were given the opportunity to lead in sports drills, in small groups, dramas and teaching, some for the first time. They were cheered on by an equally incredible bunch of adult team members. Thanks to local churches who not only supported the event but also prepared and served us morning tea during the Games. Teamwork really does make the dream work!

It was a joy to see children coming together from 12 different churches, and eight different schools, some children with no church background and some who connected through their RI teacher’s invitation. A great mix of year 3–6 children attended, some of who decided to join Jesus’ team for the first time.

We celebrated our Year 6 students who experienced their last Kids Games as attendees and encouraged them to join us in the future as leaders. There were many pleas for more days and weeks to be added, but alas we needed to head off to bring Kids Games to Katherine!
