Jackson’s heart-change thanks to the real SUPA Hero
Your support for SU is impacting the lives of young people like Jackson*, who attended SUPA Heroes at Camp Geographe in Busselton during the last school holidays.
This year’s camp saw 28 primary-aged children from Years 4-6 come together for five days of fun activities and learning more about the real superhero – Jesus.
While all the children had a great time, one young camper, Jackson, had a particularly special experience, says SU Camp Director, Cody.
“I’d noticed Jackson wasn’t really engaging with the games, and coming into camp he had no real belief in anything, which was clear during the activities we were running.
“But then a change started to happen…”
When rain forced the activities indoors, Jackson once again wasn’t getting involved. But he noticed one of the camp leaders, Jason, was placing books on a shelf for the children to read. Jackson’s interest was piqued.
“What are those books?” he asked. Jason shared that they were Bibles, and offered to read one with him.
“The next day over breakfast he went and got the book again,” explains Cody.
“He came to Jason with questions. He was so eager to learn and understand it all. We could just see this change come over him as he explored the Bible throughout the week,” says Cody.
Jackson left camp with a new hunger to know more about Jesus through reading the Bible.
When Scripture Union founder Josiah Spiers first started his ministry in the late 1800s in Wales, he began a beautiful legacy of bringing the scriptures to life for children like Jackson.
Thank you for being part of this living legacy and helping today’s generation discover life in God’s big and unfolding story.
