“I love you friend”

“I love you friend”

Every SU Australia intern has a story. Through your support, their stories continue to grow and make an impact in the lives of children, young people and families they meet.

Hannah’s story began in New Zealand. After meeting Christ on a SU Beach Mission with her aunt and uncle in Australia, she answered the call to become an intern at Victoria’s Camp Coolamatong, where she has been among the amazing 2025 intern group learning, loving, and serving on the campsite.

“When I found Jesus and I realised that he loved me, my second thought was, I want kids to know this love,” reflects Hannah.

Hannah is thrilled she decided to join the internship program:  ‘It’s just the best,” she says.

A recent highlight of Hannah’s journey was travelling from Victoria to the Northern Territory as part of the annual Coolamatong pilgrimage to partner with Indigenous leaders and local SU staff at Yangbala Kemp (Youth camp).

Spoiler alert: The intern with the painted skirt in the next story, that’s Hannah!

Allowing the local children to paint her skirt, leaving an array of handprints and colourful chaos in their wake (and instructions that she could not, under any circumstances, remove the skirt ever again), was just one way Hannah was able to serve, and be blessed in return.

One of the special connections that Hannah formed on Yangbala Kemp was with a little girl. She made sure that she told this girl that she was loved and precious. By the end of their time together, the little girl was sending this message confidently back to Hannah with the invaluable words: “I love you, friend.”

Internships are an amazing way for Young Adults to discover their purpose and place in God’s big story.

“I have no idea where I’d be without Coola[matong]… Coola didn’t save me, Jesus did. But the people at Coola are the vessels He used to show me Him,” reflects Hannah.
