Hello all, and are you ready for another adventure with the team of volunteers who are super excited to provide you with a life time of memories. This year we have extended the camp to three nights and four days with the team and the program aiming to develop and/or strengthen friendships.
The four days will consist of fun, creative exploration and a new activity that will kick off the camp on day one when you arrive. Provided by Skies Unlimited you will have the opportunity to experience navigating a drone while journeying with a team to explore the camp from a different perspective.
This year’s theme is ‘friendship’ giving you some tools and strategies to maintain and develop friendships at camp and within your own neighbourhood. We as a team know some of the challenges faced by your loved ones and you which is why we maintain a safe space in a ‘nonjudgmental’ environment giving you and your family a sense of belonging and acceptance while inclusion for all is encouraged.
Once again sensory needs are prioritised and feedback from you and or your family is always welcomed. Whether they are observable through touch, taste, smell, hearing, seeing we as a team know there’s more to it with sensations experienced on our inside for example difficulty communicating one’s body state like feeling hot/cold.
Therefore please let us know in your registration as much or as little details you hope to experience. Last summer we had one family super excited to see we put thought into catering for a member of their family by having the yogurt they loved even though they thought we would need to consider the catering needs for all. This emphasis’s how we don’t consider a one box fits all approach even when it comes to their sense of taste, smell or appearance.
Our cooks will be cooking up a feast that is healthy, tasty and delicious while dietary needs are taken into account. Families will be treated to a boat trip on the C.C. Neil to one of several destinations in the area. With a fun action pack camp planned, and preparations are on the way we hope you are ready and excited as much as us.
One activity that is planned for this year is an evening of trivia with a difference. As we know many of us learn in different ways and that’s why movement, creativity and teamwork will be useful and supportive for the deepening of friendships. Although the activity is planned for the final evening it is our hope that the families and the team will have had time to get to know each other identifying qualities, skills and passions we have been given to share. We also hope this will help to bring about inclusion, cooperation as each person compliments one another.
Knowing that in society many people tend to emphasis competition we aim for cooperation which is more helpful to equipping people with social skills that favours teamwork, for in our experience the achievement of goals is usually through teamwork.
Accommodation at Camp Coolamatong’s Farm Camp offers spacious living in an environment that supports communal living. On site there are five cabins each fitted with three bedrooms, a bathroom and toilet. There is also a bunk house that has rooms for larger families, and facilities available for anyone with mobility difficulties.

Eve Davies and Ian Conabere

Hi I am Eve a caring, compassionate mother, who brought up four children. I know that no two children are the same and that every day, challenges can occur. My love for difference drives my passion to attempt to support and equip families with strategies and tools to draw out the best of their loved ones no matter what their journey has been like or is yet to be. My speciality is craft and I love to cook with kids too aiming to give them some life skills enabling them to live independently when their time comes.
G'day Everyone, My name is Ian. After being a Team Member in 2024, I am team leading alongside Eve. As a primary teacher since 1977, I have always enjoyed working with children and their families. Currently I am a SU School Chaplain in two small Gippsland schools, which has helped me experience a rewarding aspect of school life. Camping has always been something I enjoy. Helping other people enjoy their time away at camp is something I thrive on. Other activities I enjoy include writing and playing songs, music, gardening, cooking, kayaking, family (including our gorgeous Cavalier King Charles pup, Beezlee!) and the beach! I like to ensure there is time to be alone with God each day but being part of the many closely knit live communities which we make together on each camp is the best aspect.
