Easter Campers Know Jesus
Despite the looming threat of COVID, Easter Camp returned for the second straight year in the Northern Territory at Riyala with 58 campers and 24 leaders able to attend – praise God!
This year’s camp saw amazing friendships formed, while everyone enjoyed crazy activities, an awesome party, delicious food, and a day trip to Litchfield for a swim.
But more than that, each camper had the opportunity to know Jesus in a very real way.
Guest speaker, Ben Staunton, shared stories about people from the Bible who met Jesus – the Centurion, Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman at the well, and Zacchaeus. Through these stories our campers learned the difference between knowing about Jesus, and knowing him.
For one young camper, they summed up their experience on camp beautifully:
“Going to camps such as Easter Camp are always the best highlights of my year. For me as a Christian in an environment like school, it is hard sometimes. After Easter camp I feel really encouraged to make sure my friends have opportunities to experience Jesus. I will continue to pray for them.”
SU Australia Regional Manager, Ox Roberts, says many young people were blessed at Easter Camp, and he is very aware of where thanks is due for the success.
“Thank you to everyone who prayed for camp, and to God for the safety of everyone who was present. Please continue to pray for the campers post camp, that God will continue to be at work in their lives.
“Thank you also to our amazing volunteer leaders and cooks who not only did an amazing job on camp, but were all so passionate about pointing the campers towards Jesus, thank you,” says Ox.
