Continuing the journey at SUPA and Beyond Camp

Continuing the journey at SUPA and Beyond Camp

Opportunities abound to reach children in primary school with God’s love, hope and good news. But the challenge lies in maintaining those connections as the students transition to secondary school.

This challenge inspired the creation of the SUPA and Beyond camp, designed to offer a continued journey of faith and connection for children from years 7–9.

The camp’s vision is simple yet crucial:

“Most of the kids have been through SUPA North and have an understanding of who Jesus is,” explained the Field Development Manager for Tasmania North, Matt.

“And during this camp, we have an opportunity to explore who Jesus is a bit further” he said.

Delving into the theme of ‘grounded,’ the campers explored what it means to be rooted in faith and their identities in Christ during morning devotions and sessions throughout the day.

The rest of camp was packed with activities capturing the teenagers’ interests – beach walks, thrilling laser tags and evenings around a bonfire, forming lasting friendships.

Matt recalls how one child’s story highlights the camp’s impact:

“I met this kid on SUPA North last year. Being able to continue building that relationship was such a great opportunity.

“They have matured so much, showing more of a willingness to step out and take part in things.”

SUPA and Beyond meets a critical need by sustaining and developing great connection points with secondary school children, often at a time when it is most needed.
