Chace sees God’s love in action on camp
If actions speak louder than words, then for Chace, a Grade 6 student from Bundaberg, her recent SU camp experience spoke volumes.
Used to seeing people lash out in anger, Chace noticed something very different about the campers at Hervey Bay Christian Camp.
“At first, I didn’t think I’d like it, but the other campers were really nice. They weren’t quiet, but calm, and you could make friends easily. We did lots of fun activities together,” says Chace.
“There was one moment when we were playing basketball, and the ball accidentally hit another camper on the head. He was maybe a year older than me, and I was waiting for him to react or yell at me,” remembers Chace.
“It was so weird. He just said it was fine and kept playing. Most of my friends have anger issues so I’m used to them [blowing up], and his reaction really surprised me.”
“He just let it go.”
That’s God’s love and peace in action! Through your support, Chace was able to experience this firsthand at an SU camp.
Stella, the local school chaplain, was a leader on camp and was there if Chace needed a familiar face to turn to.
“I remember Chace coming up to me on the second day saying, ‘Everyone’s so nice here. Why are they so nice? I wish my mum and brother could be here,’” says Stella.
Thanks to you, Chace experienced being part of a community that supported one another and has a unique outlook on life.
