Bibles run out the door at SUPA Sports Holiday Club!

We all know that many children and young people love sports. But what about reading God’s word? Below, Chris Battistuzzi shares how demand for Bibles at SUPA Sports holiday club led to (a very encouraging) temporary shortage.

Bordertown SUPA Sports holiday club kicked, bounced and jumped off once more this year. Over 60 local children enjoyed multiple sports-themed activities, craft, food and – of course – plenty of fun.

But that wasn’t all. Through songs, Bible stories, videos, testimonies and small groups, the campers were introduced to the person of Jesus and what he has done for us through the cross and resurrection.

But something pleasantly unexpected happened too.

While we always have a good supply of child-relevant Bibles to give away to kids who want them, the demand and hunger for God’s word was so huge that after Day 1 we ran out and had to quickly source more.

One story in particular illustrates  just how important it was to have Bibles on hand this year.  At the end of the first day when a mum came to pick up her two children, she noticed that her daughter had a book in her hand and she asked her, “What’s that book?’

“It’s a Bible,” the daughter said.

The mother instantly replied: “What are you doing with a Bible?”

Her daughter’s answer was clear and heartwarmingly honest: “I wanted one.”

Would you believe, less than two minutes later the mum came back and asked for another Bible because now her son wanted one too.

Through a simple SUPA Holiday Club, two Bibles have gone home with children for the first time. Seeds of faith were planted and who knows what God will do through this.

Thanks for supporting camps like SUPA Holiday club where children and young people are given the chance to encounter Jesus through action and truth. Please pray that the word of God takes root in the young hearts that attended, and all young hearts across Australia.

Great to hear that these children wanted to read the Word of God.
May the Spirit of God work in their hearts drawing them to Our Lord Jesus.
