A stage for Christ
Faith and creativity take centre stage at Victoria’s Performing Arts Camp (PAC).
When you sign up for PAC, expect to build more than just performing arts skills. Whether through on-stage theatrical performances or spontaneous Bible readings by campers in cabins before bed, God’s word is shining in young hearts.
Over four solid days, students from Years 4–10 are immersed in a supportive atmosphere of artistic skill-building and relationship growing, all grounded in the Bible.
“Christ, creativity and community is our motto. We want to be Christ-focused, to encourage creativity in every aspect, and to build an uplifting community,” explains Emily, Camp Co-director.
This motto is clearly modelled by the leaders. Each night, they stage an act from a musical for the campers that thoughtfully ties in biblical themes, followed by a Bible study.
“We have verses for each scene in the musical,” smiles Emily.
These moments of Bible engagement often spark meaningful discussions among the campers.
Emily recalls how her senior stream girls explored the importance of baptism, while Penny, the other Camp Co-director, heard a Year 9 boy ask his leader, “How do I make sure my faith doesn’t become stale?”
Whether in creating or learning, dependence on Christ is paramount. As one camper summed up their experience on camp:
“I learned that I don’t work under my own strength, it’s God who is the one that gives me strength.”
Camps like PAC are only possible because of your faithful and prayerful support. Please continue supporting SU’s camping ministry so more children, young people and their families can discover life in God’s big story at su.org.au/donate.
