A Different Kind of Craving

A Different Kind of Craving

What comes to mind when you think of the words licorice allsorts? Probably sugar, colour, and a mix of wild flavours.

Made from a similar recipe, WA’s Licorice Allsorts Camp for children in years 4-6 blends colourful personalities with all kinds of thrilling activities.

Except something much sweeter than sugar gives this camp flavour.

The key ingredient is a growing hunger for God’s word.

Each day, the campers’ appetite for what really matters grew as they dug into jungle-themed devotional sessions, learning how Jesus is king and in charge of the whole world.

It didn’t take long before they started seeing Him everywhere. While walking along the Busselton Jetty, a number of children remarked how “God painted such a beautiful sunset!”

Others jumped at the chance of getting their own Bible on the last day of camp.

One boy shared that he’s going to read his new Bible on the bus, while another child from a non-Christian background was very excited to take her first Bible home.

Even a camper who had made negative comments earlier in the week was saying “I love Jesus” by the end of camp.

Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the LORD is good.”

At a camp named after lollies, that’s exactly what happened and the children even returned home hungry for more.
