A Channel of God’s Presence
A Channel of God’s Presence
For seven years, Daniel has served as a chaplain in two public primary schools in the suburbs of Sydney, a role that occasionally tests his focus on the true purpose of his presence. While his primary objective is to provide support for the well-being of students, staff, and parents, it’s easy for him to overlook the fact that he is also a channel for the presence of God. In Daniel’s case, his work allows him the opportunity to be a source of blessing to others, carrying a piece of God into the school environment.
His daily tasks involve listening to students share their struggles, injecting hope into their lives that “everyone matters, belongs and has gifts to offer,” and delivering messages of inclusivity and worthiness at school assemblies.
Daniel supports stressed-out teachers, provides hampers to families in need, and fosters a sense of community through organising whole-school events. Daniel is passionate about serving God in the service of his local community as a chaplain, and it’s this heart to serve that is changing hearts.
A notable example is the transformation of one school’s P&C group. Initially hesitant to go with SU Chaplaincy due to religious affiliations, they now willingly invest in an additional day of Daniel’s work because they see the impact he is having.
Thank you for investing in the lives of children, young people and their families through your support of chaplaincy and SRE in schools across New South Wales and Australia. To keep this vital work going and growing, visit su.org.au/donate/
