SU has helped me take a big leap of faith

Your support of SU’s camping ministries is helping young people like Lily have life-transforming experiences with Jesus that extend well beyond the confines of a campsite.

Growing up in a small country town, Lily had a strong Christian faith, yet no one her own age to share it with.

But God had other plans.

Lily’s love for the outdoors led her to WA’s South West Adventure Camp (SWAC), where she was quickly immersed in Christian community and began finding the confidence to step into God’s calling.

“The leaders told me that just because I’m a country kid, it doesn’t mean God has no plans for me,” Lily shared.

With the support of her leaders and determined to help others discover the same joy of Christian friendship, Lily returned to SWAC as an assistant cook.

She also stepped into junior leadership at a Kids in the Kitchen Camp and attended SU’s training days.

These experiences, Lily says, have given her a new perspective on how God is using SU to accomplish His purposes:

“SU is for the kids’ benefit and God’s glory. I got that really strong message as a camper, but now I see it on another level.”

Equipped to take on a challenge – knowing SU is right behind her – Lily has started running an online Bible study, helping 30 other young people stay connected to God and each other.

Lily’s next big step? Her upcoming baptism. For Lily, it’s a way of publicly saying yes to the faith that she’s been growing in since her first SU camp.

“SU has definitely helped with this decision, with the fact that I just need to take a big leap of faith, and put my trust solely in God.”

If you would like to help more young Christians find their place in following God’s lead, then head to su.org.au/donate/ and support future training development.
