Signs in the Sand, (aka Neurodiverse Family Camp) is a camp crafted for neurodiverse families! Inspired by Jesus’ way of unconditional love and acceptance, we believe that every person, is uniquely and wonderfully made. This camp is a safe and understanding place where everyone in a family, no matter their age, can experience belonging, feel valued, and truly thrive.

The schedule is flexible, with activities available for you to choose from, allowing space for individual needs and rhythms, just as Jesus welcomed all with open arms. We prayerfully consider things like sensory needs when planning activities, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and can join in. You can try gentle nature walks, creative arts, sensory play, or simply find peace in a quiet spot for reflection. Perhaps you’ll even feel inspired to leave your own “signs in the sand” as you connect with family, the peaceful environment, and the loving spirit of Christ. There’s something for every interest and energy level, for all ages across the lifespan.

This camp is led by kind and experienced people who are dedicated to living out Christian principles of compassion and inclusion. We are learning what neurodiversity means and continue to strive and make sure every child, teen, adult, and grandparent feels important, listened to, and deeply valued, just as Jesus values every person. Parents and caregivers will also find a warm community where you can share challenges, offer encouragement, and experience the supportive fellowship of others.

Come and refresh with the family, meet new friends make long lasting connections and happy memories, while feeling the embrace of God’s love and participating in your own special way where grace abounds and judgement is left behind. We can’t wait to welcome families and create some signs in the sand with you.

Hello, my name is Eve, I have raised four beautiful children, and are now grown to six grandchildren. My main role at home is caring for my husband now that our children have lives of their own. My daily routine consists of aqua aerobics, working out at the gym, volunteering at a primary school near us, reading and my altime favourite activity is to be creative and crafty. I am very community minded helping others to grow in their faith. As for my journey with Jesus, I am frequently acknowledging gratitude to my nan who was the person to plant the first seeds of God's love for me, it wasn't until my mid teens that I first gave my heart to Jesus however the journey has encountered many challenges and heartaches but that was not the end of my journey, some would even say it was easily the beginning. But today Jesus as I continue to learn who is was and is today walking with me side by side I consider it a privilege to journey with him to share and be an exemplar of Jesus' ways. I look forward to hearing and seeing how Jesus is moving in and with you on your journey to.

Hi Everyone,
I am Ian. I have been involved in church since I first went with my family as a six weel old baby. Moving into today, I have been married nearly 46 years with Kerryn. We enjoyed raising four wonderful daughters with help from family Collectively there are six amazing grandchildren from 8 to 15 years. Three boys. Three girls. Six dogs and six cats are all members of our wide family. Currently I am school Chaplain at Willow Grove PS and MARC teacher based at Moe (Elizabeth St) PS. That's two jobs over 5 days. Signs in the Sand will be my second SU Camp as a Team Leader, but I have enjoyed camping with Gippsland's September Camp run by the Uniting Church at Lake Tyers since the 1990s. Some of my family came to Coolamatong Farm last January. Given our mixture of neurodiversity, each will have a different story to share. I love music. I love being around people, but I have to work at finding space for me time too. Hopefully when you come, you will feel comfortable to join us in the many and varied activities. No one is judging you. Just looking for ways to encourage you to have fun with your family and our bigger families for our short stay together.

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been around camps my whole life and love the outdoors, whether it’s camping, hiking, or cycling. I grew up in Ballarat and currently work as a disability support worker, as well as volunteer as a youth leader. I’m passionate about encouraging others and supporting them to get the most out of their experiences. I’m really looking forward to camp and being part of the adventure together!
