A Weekend to Remember at South Australia’s Dads and Daughters Camp

A Weekend to Remember at South Australia’s Dads and Daughters Camp

Fathers regularly express a desire to spend quality time with their daughters. Yet, the ever-increasing demands and distractions of daily life can quickly make the sentiment an afterthought.

To bridge this gap, came South Australia’s inaugural Dads and Daughters camp for girls aged 8 to 12 and their fathers.

“The heart of the mission is just connection between dads and daughters,” said camp director Dave.

Shared experiences proved crucial for bringing the dad and daughter duos closer together, with joint activities fostering lasting bonds and memories.

“The girls loved riding the horses as well as leading and grooming them with their dads.”

Another hit with the children was the conversations held around the campfire, with many of the participants opening up about their families and experiences.

But it wasn’t just the girls that enjoyed themselves.

The fathers also appreciated hearing a guest speaker discuss strategies for raising daughters in the 21st century, prompting a group spitballing of ideas and approaches.

Feedback from the first camp was overwhelmingly positive, revealing the eagerness of participants to spend uninterrupted time together.

“There’s a massive need for fathers to reconnect with their daughters, and this gives them the space to do that,” smiled Dave.
