Oh Alice!

Oh Alice!

In late 2023, Alice Springs experienced a flurry of activity from Scripture Union. In November, Rachel Borneman and Naomi Ireland collaborated with ITECA and Mel Quilliam to conduct children’s and youth ministry workshops. Four participants from the APY lands engaged in immersive sessions focused on literacy games, innovative memory verse learning methods, Bible timelines, visual storytelling, and age-appropriate Bible discussions. The team also visited a local School, where they practised their new skills and shared insights using the local indigenous language.

Moving into December, Scripture Union actively participated in the annual Carols by Candlelight event organised by the Christian Churches of Alice Springs. Preceding the event, SU organised a colouring competition, while on the night, they managed face painting and children’s activities. This initiative served as a valuable opportunity to reconnect with families from various programs held throughout the year. Through visual art, craft, and distribution of booklets, Scripture Union continued to spread the Christian message during the festive season.
