Loving like Jesus makes a difference at Victor Harbour

Loving like Jesus makes a difference at Victor Harbour

We received this beautiful reflection from first-time volunteer, Bethany, after this year’s Victor Harbour Mission. Enjoy…

“Last year I was invited by one of my teachers to serve on The Big Tent team at SU Australia’s Victor Harbour Mission, and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.

The Big Tent is a mission space that has a massive impact on both the people they serve and those who are on the team.

The importance of what The Big Tent does was made clear to me a couple of weeks after where I bumped into one of the younger girls who attended the programs.

We spoke about what she did after and what she learnt. One thing she took away was that no matter what, Jesus wants to be our friend.

That concept was not shown to her just through teaching, but through the love, kindness and selflessness of the team down at The Big Tent.

For me, serving at The Big Tent taught me more about ministry and mission outside of my comfort zone, it helped me understand God’s heart for mission and others in a deeper way.

I encourage anyone who’s thinking about the mission to get involved!”
