Worship overflows at ‘Splashout’ camp, Moreton North

As the name clearly suggests, Splashout Camp is a fun, water-themed-adventure-filled camp on the Sunny Coast.  With activities like party boats, Aussie world, and visits to an Aqua park, it’s hard not to catch the excitement . . .  and that’s before you include free time to hang out with old and new friends under the Queensland sun.

But this year, something else overflowed.

Worship took off at this year’s camp, with multiple nights seeing campers on their feet, praising God, all of which had a profound impact on the team leaders.

The final night of camp began with a moment to honour leaders who had served for five years or more. Splashout Director, Julie Hose, was deeply grateful for the dedicated time to thank those who had put so much into the camp. Campers stood to their feet as one, in rousing rounds of applause for their leaders.

This “honouring of leaders,”  Julie explains, flowed naturally into an even greater moment of honouring the one who makes all things possible. The worship on this final night was unprecedented.

Splashout camp attendees come from the surrounding Moreton North catchment, but are a wonderful mix of students from local schools.

Like the Kingdom of God, there is no special entrance requirement for SU Australia camps. All are welcome.

When we are met by God and welcomed to come close in a safe, supportive community, we cannot help but overflow in praise.

Speakers Dave and Dylan gave stirring messages throughout the camp. On the final night campers were given the chance to respond to Jesus, whether asking him to meet them exactly where they were at, to know him, to return to him or to ask for healing from all they had experienced in their young lives.
