Met With God’s Love at CHIC Camp

God’s love is unstoppable. It changes people from the inside out.

Is it little wonder that campers at WA’s Choices, Hope, Identity and Connections (CHIC) Camp often return home transformed?

CHIC is a camp for girls in years 7 to 10. Many think of it as a week-long adventure to break away from the expectations and pressures of everyday life.

It’s a place where God’s love is felt in every direction. Sprawled out across arts and crafts tables, shared on hikes, and most importantly, made known by leaders who go above and beyond to welcome each girl the moment they walk through the camp’s gates.

“Our speaker’s theme was all about love,” camp leader Eva recalled, “we’d have worship, a talk, and then discussions in our small groups.”

It was here where God’s love, explained by the speaker and demonstrated by the leaders, saw lives eternally changed.

One girl, who had never heard of Christ before camp, was eager to know more and became transformed by the gospel message.

Another opened up about becoming a Christian, revealing that attending SU camps marked a turning point in her life.

In a private moment, gazing over the ocean from the comfort of a cozy lookout, Eva shares how she began to pray for the campers:

“I was praying for each of them, and one of them in particular who had been pushing back against us.”

“Lord, a rainbow would be so cool right now,” she continued to pray.

Almost immediately, that very girl came and sat beside Eva.

For the first time, she let her guard down, just as the sky opened up with a double rainbow.

For many campers at CHIC, God’s transforming love becomes real in a way they’ll never forget.
